Welcome

Hello Mamas and Daddies,

Welcome to your parenting journey! The birth of a new baby is such an exciting time! It’s very normal to experience a wide range of emotions as you adjust to your new roles as parents. Becoming a parent can be

the greatest joy of your life!  Having said that, our emotions can sometimes surprise us.   Your mood might be all over the map. Feelings like anxiety, sadness, depression or that you just don’t feel like yourself are common. You might feel a sense of loss of the person you were before baby and struggle with adaptation to parenthood as you embark upon one of the biggest transitions of your life. Being responsible for a tiny little person and the motherload that comes with that can be overwhelming.  A little help and reassurance can go a long way in supporting our moods and overall wellness.

Unfortunately, the path to parenthood doesn't always look the way we thought it would.  Things like fertility challenges, birth experiences that differ from what we wanted and expected, NICU admissons, feeding challenges, pregnancy and infant loss, etc.  can be quite distressing and we need a little help to cope.

1 in 5 moms and 1 in 10 dads experience postpartum depression, making it the #1 obstetrical complication. Perinatal mood and anxiety disorders (PMADs) do not discriminate. They can happen to anyone! They often go undetected, and sadly, untreated, but it doesn’t have to be that way. There is no shame in seeking treatment.

“You are not alone, you are not to blame, with help you will be well” (Postpartum Support International).
